This week the Director of the Dalai Lama Centre for Compassion, Alex Norman, arrives in Dharamsala for a month long visit. During this time he will be staying at the house of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s brother Ngari Rinpoche and meeting with His Holiness the the Dalai Lama and other key figures in Dharamsala concerning a number of exciting projects.
Throughout his stay, he will be gathering information necessary for the final writing stage of a new official biography of the Dalai Lama which he is currently authoring. This is expected to be released at the end of next year.
One important venture under discussion is a new study exchange to be run by the DLCC, giving students from Oxford and elsewhere in the UK the opportunity to study under leading Tibetan scholars in Dharamsala and vice-versa. It is hoped that this enterprise will result in a fruitful sharing of values and ideas between two ancient but contrasting educational traditions.
Finally he will be making arrangements for an international DLCC conference, to take place in Dharamsala in 2017, with the involvement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This event will bring together leading thinkers with supporters of the DLCC from around the world, providing a unique opportunity to advance its work.
