Three Fellows of the Dalai Lama Centre for Compassion delivered papers as delegates to the First International Philosophical Dialogue, East-West, on the topic of Science and Religion.
This event took place in Skopje, Sveti Nikole and Ohrid, Macedonia under the auspices of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the International Slavic University and the Philosophic Society of Macedonia, with speakers from from Russia, Great Britain, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Albania and Macedonia.
The President of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts Vlado Kambovski, the Rector of International Slavic University, Dusan Nikolovski and the President of the Philosophic Society of Macedonia Ljupco Mitkovski delivered opening remarks concerning the importance of international philosophical dialogue in contemporary society.
In addition to the dialogue, participants were invited to sign a statement addressed to the United Nations, stating the need for friendly international dialogue in the face of the world’s moral challenges, including the ongoing refugees crisis in Europe, and calling for greater emphasis on ethical education.
