Our Projects

The DLCC has been at forefront of compassion education initiatives in the UK since 2014. Below are further details and links to our past and current projects.

Launched in 2022, SEE Learning UK is an innovative collaboration between the DLCC and Emory University. This new project combines secular ethics with social and emotional learning skills to provide educators with resources to support children and young people’s well-being and personal development. Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning UK provides accessible materials offering step-by-step lesson plans and presentations to support educators. Our resources are designed for use in classrooms and extracurricular settings such as youth clubs providing an easy-to-use age, appropriate set of resources for children and young people aged 5-18 years old. Alongside our resources, we also offer training for educators via our self-led online training course, face-to-face regional workshops or digital seminars throughout the academic year.

Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT) is a structured and evidence-based program designed to cultivate and enhance compassion within individuals. Rooted in the principles of cognitive psychology and mindfulness practices, CBCT offers a systematic approach to developing and strengthening one's capacity for compassion, both towards oneself and others. At its core, CBCT recognizes that compassion is not just a natural emotional response but also a skill that can be nurtured and developed. It aims to provide individuals with the tools and techniques necessary to foster a more profound sense of empathy, kindness, and genuine concern for the well-being of others. CBCT helps participants transform their thoughts and behavioural responses to align more closely with compassionate values. To register your interest, please get in touch with info@dlccoxford.org.

Since 2018, the DLCC has concentrated on compassion in schools via its kindness education project: Compassion Matters. This innovative project for building a society with compassion at its core, endorsed by the Dalai Lama, reached over 20,000 children. The project provided 20 hours of learning resources for educators to use with key stage 2 pupils (age 9-11) exploring compassion and its related values using compelling person-centred films, lesson plans and activities.

Since 2014 the DLCC has supported research about compassion and its related values as well as hosted many leading thinkers discussing compassion. Recordings of these lectures and seminars can be found on our DLCC Youtube channel.
